Buddhist philosophy and Timothy Leary merge into a profound statement of existentialism… A quote from Timothy Leary (1966):

“I gave way to delight, as mystics have for centuries when they peeked through the curtains and discovered that this world- so manifestly real was actually a tiny stage set constructed by the mind. We discover abruptly that everything we accept as reality is just social fabrications.”

This was during the time that Timothy Leary and others were experimenting heavily with “mind-expanding” drugs such as LSD. While research has shown that psychadelic drug use, especially on a recreational level, can be harmful and is not advised – these drugs were utilitarian in opening “doors of perception.” In clearing away the veils of outwardly-imposed perceptual forms and expectations, it became possible for some individuals to experience new, “free,” and tramscendant perceptions of existance and the “true nature” of our world.

Were they all just trippin’ or were they able to un-cage their minds to know truths that the sages have spoken of?
